Why should you seek link partners?

It is widely believed that the best reason for exchanging links with other sites is that it improves your Page Rank with Google.

While this is a good reason for exchanging links, suppose for a moment their is a better motivation. Before the almighty Google started using a page rank formula to determine search engine returns, link exchanged were made solely for the mutual benefit of the internet community and website owners. Imagine that!

Ok with that picture in mind how much traffic do you think is generated every day from referring links? Search engine traffic is just the tip of the ice burg, compared to what goes through link referrals.

Some will doubt this but when was the last time you did a search for something and the search engine returns were not getting you exactly what you needed or to where you needed to go?

Yes, Search engines are the usual starting place for searches but the traffic continues onward through the links exchanges we find on the websites we find.

Thus, targeted free traffic was referred from one site to another, this kind of traffic is what you can expect when you exchange links. While getting a good search engine ranking is the ultimate goal of link exchange, the chances of getting traffic like this are far greater than getting a top 10 search engine positioning.

Won't I loose traffic to other site? Good question but a better question is, where will my traffic go when they leave my site?

One unavoidable outcome when you get a visitor is … they will leave, eventually. Even if they buy your services or products they will leave 100% of the time. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it!

You try as you must to build a good content filled website you need to trust in your sales copy to deliver what your visitor is looking. In the inevitable timeline of events when they do leave, why not send them to a link partner?

So, why exchange links? It is helpful to the internet community, your link partners (who will notice traffic from your site & be grateful) and your bottom line.
