Yahoo Directory / Search Engine

When I began my search engine marketing adventures Yahoo was considered an absolute must for any kind of success in the market. You paid your $299 directory listing fee and had no guarantee that you would get listed. The fee only got a real person to consider your website.

Still since they served up their directory results as the main seach engine returns your money was usually wel spent. Aside from some of the lame Title and descriptions they listed you with, I made money had over fist so to speak from a listing with them.At this time, they don't use the directory listings as primary results instead it's Google's search feed.

I'm sure they are hard at work getting their own search results in place but as long as the directory is delegated to secondary results the $299 fee is harder to justify. If you have it in your budget, go for it. You will still get some kind of Page Rank boost from having your site listed with a trusted authority site.
