Search Engine Stuff for November 2002

Who are the Major Search Engine Players? This is always changing and some day this post will be a blast from the past. 

Google and Overture. Next come Inktomi, Alta Vista, Open Directory Project (ODP) Fast (alltheweb.com and Lycos), Yahoo, Looksmart,  AskJeeves / Teoma.

Yahoo has been GOOGLED.  Yahoogle? Yep, yahoo lately shows Google results as default rather than their own directory's listing. This makes the $299 a year price tag for a listing with them seem like a waste. They must be nuts, what on earth possessed them to delegate their directory results to obscurity while exalting the competition? I've seen some stupid stuff but this one gets my vote for blunder of the year.
