Strategy for Building Inbound Links pt 2

SEO NEWS

5- Purchased links are very useful for getting quality links from related webpages. This is really a strategy for those with a monthly budget but worth mentioning just the same. There are some things to look out for when purchasing links but the main one involved "run of site links" Doing this on a large site with hundreds or even thousands of of pages within the same ip block looks artificially inflated to the search engines and could get you a penalty.

6- Format your links using consistency example:

http://your-site.com
http://your-site.com/
http://your-site.com/index.html
http://www.your-site.com
http://www.your-site.com/
http://www.your-site.com/index.html

The above are all different url's in the spiders eyes and if you are not careful you can dilute your efforts. A common mistake made by all is using the www.your-site.com and sometimes leaving off the www. and just linking to your-site.com Pick a format and be consistent with it. Using the www or not make no difference just always use it or always don't.

7- Keywords in your anchor text is very important. One thing you don't want to do is use something like Click Here for your link text. Try using a keyword related to your page. Even longtail terms which are longer keyword phrases that are used to search in your niche.

As mentioned briefly above this is one way to vary your inbound link text and give a more natural look to your links. The keywords in your anchor text do give a significant enough boost to make the effort worthwhile. I also helps the visitors viewing those links an ideal as to the relevancy of your page as related to their interests.

8- Deep links are good. Make sure that some of the links to your website are deep links. This means that inbound links point to sub-pages within your site and not just the homepage only.

9- When starting out, focus on the major directories as a source of important links then shift to the topic-specific directories to solidify the theme relevance of your site.

10. As a business owner/entrepreneur you are probably quite knowledgeable or even an expert on your field so many online business owners write articles about things related to their sites. You should do this as well. You can let others post it on their site as content in exchange for a link back you your's as the author. Provided your article is good a lot of links could be acquired through this method. Article directories are easy to find by searching for them. But here are a few just to help you get started.

11- One of the most potentially productive tips – Find out who's linking to your competitors and convince them to link to you instead. Go to Yahoo and enter: linkdomain:www.your-competitor.com -site:www.your-competitor.com in the Yahoo search box and you'll learn who you should contact.
