It may seem a little obvious but it is worth a mention here.  Search engine  ranking is boosted by incoming links.  Offer some incentive to encourage people to put a link to your website.  It is not hard to find an information product that comes with give away and or resell rights.

If your feeling a little more creative and adventurous try researching your niche and finding good information that is already freely available, then rewrite it in an original way using your own words. You could even use whole articles from article directories if your not interested in making the content unique.

Common sense dictates it would not be ethical to use these articles and reports without providing the credit to the writer but the articles found on article directories are there because it is the authors desire to have his content distributed.  It is a good system and has been working for several years.

At any rate, collecting a series of these articles and compiling them to make a report with your own comments and affiliate links to related resources is the basic formula for successful affiliate marketing.

Now that you have a product, offer it as a bribe for a link. Not only have you used other peoples content, (with appropriate credit to those authors) you have also added your own comments, and affiliate links that can get real eyeballs and traffic and make residual income.

Give everyone free give away rights to it and the report becomes viral in that many internet marketers will pass it along and since it contains your links you can profit. It's a self-perpetuating system.

Once you start giving away something for free, you get the links, the name and email for your mailing list and you will probably get traffic from those links. As regarding your quest for more traffic from the search engines, these kinds of links are proven to improve positioning and your site can get ranked better.
